VOLUNTEER HOUSE GUIDELINES
When staying at the Volunteer House, each guest has the responsibility to the others to respect the use of shared areas and keep them neat and clean. Below are some guidelines for your stay:
LINENS: When you arrive, clean linens will be on top of the bed in each room. Please make up the bed. Upon departure, overnighters and short term volunteers are asked to strip their beds and bring the used linens and towels to the laundry room in the basement, placing them in the marked containers. This will assist us with laundry. The bathrooms have a supply of towels and toilet tissue, as well as various cleaning supplies in the cabinets.
BATHROOMS: Schedule showers and
bathroom use with those with whom you share.
KITCHEN: You may use all appliances in the
kitchen. Check with the hostess for
scheduling if you wish to cook meals. Clean up after yourself—place rinsed dishes in the dishwasher to be run
at the end of the day or when full. Wash
pots and pans and plastic items by hand.
Long term residents will be assigned a place to store groceries. Please be
considerate of others and clean stove/counter tops, and wipe down the microwave
if used.If the trash container becomes
full, please take it to the dumpster behind the Mission House. New bags are available for your convenience.
LAUNDRY: A washer and dryer are provided for your use
in the basement. Check with hostess for a
scheduled time. $1.00 fee per washer
load fee applies.
TELEPHONE: Long
distance calls are to be made with your calling card only or your personal cell phone.
PARKING: Park in the front lot. If that is full, park across the street in the convention parking lot.
SMOKING is not
permitted in the house. If you must
smoke, please go outside; discard your cigarette
butts in the bucket provided—not out in the yard. NO ALCOHOLIC beverages on
the property.
