Friday: 6:00 p.m. Registration
7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Classroom “Involving
Southern Baptists in Disaster Relief”
An overview of how SBDR began, who we are, what
we do, and what is expected of our volunteers and how we are structured.
Classroom “Mud
-Out Training”
Teaching safety, techniques of removing debris
and sanitation after flooding occurs.
Saturday: 8:00
a.m. Breakfast
8:30 a.m. Classroom “Feeding Unit Training”
Overview of each station of the Feeding Unit,
safe food handling, sanitation and serving.
10:00 a.m. Hands-On Feeding Unit Training
(Volunteers prepare lunch for everyone)
11:00 – 12:00 Lunch
After Lunch the Feeding Unit will be packed for
the return trip to
1:00 p.m. Classroom “Chainsaw Training”
Volunteers will learn proper handling of
chainsaw. For every one chainsaw
operator 3-4 volunteers are needed to remove debris to curbside or other
location.
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Hands-On Training with a chainsaw.
You
may overnight at the church
bring sleeping bags, air mattress, etc. (you’ll sleep on what you bring) and
personal items.
* Please
note You must be 18 years or older to train. 16 – 17 years
of age may be trained upon recommendation letter from pastor and youth leader
and must be sponsored by a trained disaster relief volunteer. 16 – 17 year olds will not be allowed to run powered equipment, serve on National or out
of state responses until the age of 18.
No badges will be issued until 18 years of age
