"we do it together"

Our System

Our Church Planting System is built around the following:

Prayer - Prayer is recognized as introductory and continuous throughout the system

Recruitment - We are engaged in active and regular recruitment of potential church planters.

Assessment - All potential BCPSJ Church Planters (and their spouses, if married) are assessed to determine their church planter personality and abilities. Only assessed church planters will receive BCPSJ funding.

Training - All funded BCPSJ church planters are required to attend Basic Training 1 within six months of beginning their work. Spouses are required to attend.  Basic training 2 will be offered before the end of the second year of the church plant.

Mentoring - All funded BCPSJ church planters are expected to have a “mentor” for the first three years of the church plant.

Church Planter Networks - Networks will be established for church planters and their spouses that provide them with regular learning and fellowship opportunities.

Partnering Church Networks -  Existing churches and growing church plants are encouraged to become intentional partnering churches.  These “partner church” networks will address needs, problems and support.

Location of Church Planting Sites - The Associational Missionary and the regional Church Planting Director are responsible for working with new churches for the selection of sites for new church starts.

Church Planting Centers  -  CPC’s are located in high population density areas. Generally speaking, these starts are more heavily funded than other starts and are expected to lead in birthing other new starts.

Bi-Vocational Church Planting  -  Bi-Vocational Church Planting will be encouraged and Bi-Vocational Church Planters will be provided the same training and resources as vocational church planters.  Each plant will be supported according to the specific needs of the plant.

Funding - Funding is determined according to the strategy for the church plant.  Basic funding continues to be through the annual cooperative budget between BCPSJ and NAMB.  Other financial streams which may produce funds for church planting include the Sponsor Church, Association, the State Missions Offering, and funds from “partnership” arrangements.
